According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, “dietetics is the science or art of applying the principles of food and nutrition to health”. As a dietetic professional, you can work in a wide variety of settings helping people of all ages. Dietitians do not just work in hospitals and clinics. You can find dietitians in schools, health departments, food companies, research labs, pharmaceutical companies, wellness clinics, and many other positions. Michael Stout, Assistant Professor in Nutritional Sciences, Receives NIH and OCAST Grant

Michael Stout, PhD from the Department of Nutritional Sciences in the Colleges of Allied Health was recently awarded a $1.8 million R01 from the National Institutes of Health to study how cellular senescence and epigenetic remodeling promotes ovarian aging .

 

Dr. Stout also was recently awarded $135,000 from the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science & Technology to study how estrogen signaling in the hypothalamus of male mammals improves metabolic homeostasis.
