Students are required to remain compliant with all college and university requirements via the Complio system throughout their enrollment in the program. Students in non-compliance will have an enrollment hold automatically placed on their account and will be unable to participate in future coursework until they are brought back into compliance. Notifications of pending expirations and instructions on completing annual requirements can be found by logging in to Complio, but we have provided information on the most common annual requirements below:
BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG SCREENINGS
All students are required to complete an annual background check while enrolled in a College of Allied Health program. Those enrolled in a program that includes clinical components must additionally complete an annual drug screening.
The College of Allied Health utilizes Complio as its vendor for background checks and drug screenings. You will be able to place a new order for a standalone background check and/or drug screening as needed through this system. Instructions for how to place an order can be found in the Complio Student Guide. Your results are automatically provided to us and will also be tracked in the Complio system.
TUBERCULOSIS
All students enrolled in a program that includes clinical components are required to stay up to date with Tuberculosis screenings. The initial requirement is:
- Two negative PPD/TST (2-Step TB skin test, read 1-3 weeks apart)
- One negative IGRA (QuantiFERON/T-Spot) blood test
Annually thereafter, students must complete an additional PPD/TST or IGRA AND complete the Annual TB Screening Questionnaire, uploading the documentation to the appropriate items in Complio.
INFLUENZA
All students enrolled in a program that includes clinical components are required to submit a flu shot for the current season. Alternatively, students may request a declination by following the instructions on the OU Health Sciences Required Immunizations page.
The influenza category in Complio begins tracking for compliance on October 25th each year, so students should aim to receive and upload their documentation before this date to remain in compliance.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR)
A Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers CPR course through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC) must be completed every two years while enrolled in a program with a clinical component. Proof of certification should be kept updated in the Complio system. Please note: the received card must be issued by the AHA or ARC and must be in Basic Life Support. No other vendor or certification level will be accepted.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY (EHSO) TRAINING
Students are expected to complete training annually and upload the completion certificates to the Complio system. These can be found in the OnPoint system. Please note that the following trainings are not “assigned” and can instead be found in the Library once logged in to OnPoint. Questions about access to the system should be directed to onpoint@ouhsc.edu.
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- Fire Safety Training
- Hazard Communication
- Tuberculosis & Respiratory Protection
HIPAA TRAINING
All students are required to complete the HIPAA Security and Privacy training annually. This training will be assigned to you each year and the completed certificate should be uploaded to the Complio system.
DEVICE ENCRYPTION
OU policy requires device encryption on laptop computers that may store sensitive or confidential information (e.g., SSN and financial information, patient information). For laptops used by OU Health Sciences Center Students, the presumption is that the device may be used for this purpose; therefore, OU policy requires all student devices have the built-in encryption always turned on while you are a Health Sciences Center Student. Proof of encryption must be uploaded to the Complio system, and students will complete an attestation annually to confirm their laptop still meets requirements.
HEALTH INSURANCE
Students should follow all instructions from OUHSC Student Affairs regarding providing proof of insurance, either via purchasing the student health insurance or by submitting a waiver of alternate coverage. Information can be found on the Student Affairs website.
