Rehabilitation Sciences

The Department of Rehabilitation Science is made up of faculty and staff that are Innovators!  Our faculty are internationally and nationally recognized for creating new programs in research, teaching and community service for the Oklahomans that we serve.

  • In our entry-level professional programs, we are the only department in the country to offer integrated plans of study for our Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students.  What this means for you is that you will benefit from learning from both occupational therapy and physical therapy faculty while learning and practicing with both OT and PT students.
  • In post-professional programs, our faculty in the Doctor of Science (DSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) mentor leaders in our profession that transform our professions through teaching, research and advanced practice.

Explore our website and enjoy learning about our programs, faculty, and students. You will find the Department offers unique and exciting experiences for both emerging and seasoned therapists. We invite you to join us!

“One of the greatest strengths of my professional program is the commitment to interdisciplinary education and healthcare. OU is one of the very few schools in the country where occupational and physical therapy students learn alongside one another in the same classrooms. My program’s strong emphasis on the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork will play a large role in advancing our profession forward and improving the lives of our patients.

What makes me proud to be a Sooner is the way in which we respond—acting and standing up for what we know is right. The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences has created an organization and faculty committee committed to advancing the culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and I am honored to have been part of something that will continue to make a lasting impact long after I graduate.”
