Describe your career and current position, role and responsibilities.

My career in the field of Sonography has been exciting and rewarding. I have held various rolls in the field as a Sonographer, to teaching at the community college level as well serving as Director of a CAAHEP accredited program, to my current role now as Director of Ultrasound for a large private OB/GYN practice in the Denver Metro area in Colorado. In my current role I am responsible for all ultrasound operations within the practice, The Women's Health Group, P.C. We have multiple locations with ultrasound and a total of 10 Sonographers within the practice with over 30 providers and we are continuing to grow! We provide the Denver metro with exceptional OB/GYN care and I am very proud to work with many influential Physician and Mid-Level providers in the Denver community.

Describe your personal life, family, hobbies, and interests.

I have been happily married for almost 13 years and have 3 amazing sons ages 12, 8, and 3. I love enjoying the lifestyle that beautiful Colorado has to offer, spending much of our time outdoors in the Colorado sunshine and enjoying the mountains. I also spend much of our time on the baseball field watching our boys play competitive baseball.

What are you most proud of professionally and personally?

I am proud that I have a career that enables me to make a positive impact in a variety of ways and touch many lives while continuing to grow and learn. Although I have held my ARDMS certification in Obstetrics for many years, I recently completed two additional ARDMS certifications in Abdomen and Fetal Echocardiography. I would eventually like to continue my education and complete a healthcare MBA.

How has your education from the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences (formally Radiologic Technology) impacted your career?

My education from the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences has given me the opportunities to serve as a leader in my field and the confidence and knowledge needed to excel in my positions. The flexibility of the program enabled me, as a non-traditional student, the ability to advance my career in ways I would not have been able to without a Bachelor's degree. I would encourage any working professionals already in the field to continue their education. Education is always worth it.
