Interprofessional Sonography Laboratory

Our Interprofessional Sonography (IPS) Laboratory offers 9 imaging stations equipped with top tier ultrasound systems, adjustable patient beds, and ergonomic work chairs.

Each imaging station offers standard transducer selections to perform abdominal, small parts, vascular, OB/GYN, and adult echocardiography. Additional, limited specialty, transducer selections are available including 3D/4D, endocavity, and musculoskeletal.  Large display monitors and mobile laptop carts are available to enhance learner viewing.

The IPS lab can be reserved for private educational or research activities. The individual College Faculty and Staff should plan to teach the educational activity or run the research activity during the time reserved. In these instances, the College of Allied Health only facilitates the room reservation. Faculty or Staff should complete the room request form to check lab availability.

The IPS lab offers supervised practice-lab sessions for students and residents to practice their individual scanning throughout the semester. When students sign-up for a practice-lab session they should plan to bring someone to scan (another student or model). Students should sign-up for a practice scan time in advance; if there is no one signed up within 24 hours of an open scanning session the session will be canceled without notification.

The IPS lab is located in the College of Allied Health Building room 1037. Visitors should enter through the front doors of the College (backdoor is card access only).

If there are questions about room reservations or signing up on the calendar, please contact Leslee Smith by email or by calling the MIRS Department in the College of Allied Health at 405-271-6477.
