Graduation Gear-Up is an event designed to provide graduating students with the information and gear for participating in the Commencement and Convocation exercises.  Students may purchase and pick up their cap and gown, order graduation announcements, order official OU class ring, order the Sooner yearbook, and learn about the new role you will be assuming as alumni.  Students can go to any of the below locations to get their graduation gear regardless of which campus they attend (ie, a Tulsa student can order at the OKC or Norman Gear-Up to get their regalia if they happen to be in that area during those dates and times.)

Despite the unfortunate effects of COVID-19 on our planned events to celebrate the “Class of 2020” graduates of the College, we will have a virtual CAH Convocation ceremony on Friday, May 8th at the time we had planned for our in person event.  Our virtual event will include a welcome by the Dean and Provost and will be personalized by Department in a live/real time graduation experience in which you can “walk” in the comfort of your home and if able have a family member adorn you with your hard-earned hood.  Your Departments will be in touch with details about what to expect during the ceremony.  I know it's terribly disappointing to you and your families and to the faculty that we won't be able to celebrate in our usual grand in person CAH Convocation ceremony, but hopefully our virtual gathering in this most unprecedented time will be meaningful and special.

  • Date:  Friday, May 8
  • Time:  At 4:00 p.m. CST you will join the ceremony by following the directions provided to you by your Department. Your family and friends are invited to join you at the same time.
  • Place:  Anywhere of your choosing where you have a good internet connection.  Plan ahead for a stage of sorts that you can “walk”, wear your regalia, ask a family member if able to hood you, gather your air horns, balloons, and flowers ahead of time.
  • What:  The ceremony begins with inspiring remarks by the Dean, the Provost, and the student representing the “Class of 2020”, and will be followed by a Department specific personalized ceremony where you will be individually recognized and honored for your achievements!  Please watch for a detailed email from your Department about what to expect in the ceremony.

All College of Allied Health students will walk across the stage and be individually recognized at Convocation.

Degrees are individually recognized for the “Class of 2020” graduates in the grand environment of the T. Howard McCasland Field House on the OU-Norman campus. All graduates will walk across the stage and be recognized individually.

  • Date: TBA
  • Time: TBA
  • Address:  McCasland Field House, 151 West Brooks, Norman, OK  73019
  • Parking: there are available parking lots directly to the north of McCasland Field House at 1005 Asp Avenue, Norman, OK 73019.
  • Map

Students: Report to the Lissa and Cy Wagner Hall (to the north of McCasland Field House) at 3:00 p.m. for check-in and line-up.

**Students, please do not bring any additional guests with you to line-up because of the minimal amount of space we are using to accommodate all College of Allied Health students.  Additionally, do not bring personal items with you to line-up because there is not a place to keep personal items such as purses or jackets, and Wagner Hall will be locked and closed once our Convocation begins. We will not be able to open the building back up because we do not have access.

Guests: Convocation begins promptly at 4:00 pm.  The doors to the T. Howard McCasland Fieldhouse will open at 3:00 pm for guests to be seated and will close promptly at 4:00 pm to prepare the graduates for the processional. Please do not arrive earlier than this; otherwise, it will result in you standing outside in the elements (heat, rain, wind, etc) until the doors open at 3:00 pm.

Please bring your friends and family and plan to attend the Convocation Reception prior to Convocation.  This event is an opportunity for you to celebrate with your classmates, family, and friends, take pictures in front of the University Seal, etc.  This is a come and go reception.  Tickets are not given out and are not needed.

Guests, for safety and security reasons please do not go into the graduate seating section or to the stage to take photographs.  This will also ensure that all guests will be able to see their graduate walk across the stage from their seat.

Professional photographers with Party Pics will photograph each graduate as they come across the stage and as they receive their diploma.  They will also take a posed photograph of your graduate after the graduate exits the stage.  There will be a photography staging area set up so that each graduate will have a professional photograph taken.

This service is provided at no charge to the graduate.  Party Pics offers many background choices with purchased photos as well.  You may purchase photographs from the following website; however, there is no obligation.

Graduation Candidates should note that they will be required to unzip their graduation gowns for a visual security check upon exiting Lissa & Cy Wagner Wall (where graduation line-up is being held).  Please remember to zip your gown back up after your security check prior to entering McCasland Field House.

For individuals with a handicapped parking permit, there are handicapped parking spots in the parking lots to the north and east of McCasland Field House.

For those with special needs, all family members and guests in your group may sit together in a section on the ground floor of the McCasland Field House (same level as where the graduates are sitting). The first three rows on the ground floor of the field house behind the graduates section and the first row in each set of bleachers on the ground floor level will be reserved for people with special needs and their families.  These sections will be marked for your convenience.
