1st Annual Communication Sciences and Disorders Spring Sing a Success

1st Annual Communication Sciences and Disorders Spring Sing a Success

Published: Monday, April 11, 2022

On Tuesday evening, April 5th, the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders hosted its first annual CSD Spring Sing: an Alumni and Community Open House.  This was a stewardship event for CSD alumni, which offered free hearing screenings, tours of the current CSD research labs, classrooms, and clinic, as well as providing a time for alumni and friends to engage with current faculty and students.  The event featured vocal performances from CSD alumni and current CSD students.

The event also highlighted the John W. Keys Clinic’s iLEAP (Interprofessional Language Enrichment and Pre-kindergarten) program and included a moving parent testimonial video from a parent whose child is currently enrolled in iLEAP.  Also part of the special night were local community members from RestoreOKC and Not Your Average Joe coffee shop.  The first annual CSD Spring Sing was a great success and will hopefully continue in the future to serve as a community gathering and celebration of local speech-language pathologists and audiologists and to further the mission of OUHSC’s Communication Sciences and Disorders Department: “to advance knowledge in the areas of speech, language, swallowing, balance, and hearing to maximize human potential and health-related quality of life through interprofessional activities in which audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech/hearing scientists participate.”
