Mission Statement

The Mission of C.H.A.M.P. Camp is to empower children with the knowledge of basic cooking skills along with the importance of nutrition and physical activity to foster independence toward living a healthy lifestyle.

Details About C.H.A.M.P. Camp

Who

Children entering 5th – 7th grade in fall 2026 may apply.

What

C.H.A.M.P Camp is a five-day introduction to healthful eating and physical activity through fun, hands-on projects with OU Health Sciences nutrition professors, graduate students, and interns who are in training to become Registered Dietitians.

When

July 20-24, 2026

Where

College of Allied Health Building located at 1200 N. Stonewall Ave at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus

Why

Kids who participate in shopping and cooking are more likely to eat a healthy diet. Regular physical activity helps prevent obesity and chronic disease.  C.H.A.M.P Camp blends traditional nutrition education with hands-on experience and academic learning.

The coaches are dietetic interns and master’s degree program students in training to become Registered Dietitians.

Who is the Camp Director

The camp director is Younes Rebbaj, MS, MBA, RD/LD, a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, and faculty member in the Department of Nutritional Sciences.

Cost

The total cost of camp is $220 and due by June 1, 2026, along with your completed application, and signed consent form.  Please pay online Nutritional Sciences store.

On Friday of camp week, family members are invited to enjoy lunch prepared by their campers. Camp is dismissed following lunch at 1:30 p.m.
