Welcome to the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Our department is home to students, faculty, staff, clinicians, researchers, alumni, and community partners who share a common commitment: improving communication, swallowing, hearing, balance, and quality of life across the lifespan.
We are proud to offer academic and professional programs that prepare future leaders in speech-language pathology and audiology, including the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Communication Sciences and Disorders, the Master of Arts (MA) in Speech-Language Pathology, and the Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program. Through rigorous coursework, clinical education, simulation-based learning, interprofessional experiences, and meaningful engagement with clients, patients, families, and communities, our programs prepare future speech-language pathologists to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. They also prepare future audiologists to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage individuals across the lifespan experiencing difficulty with hearing, balance, and tinnitus.
One of the distinguishing strengths of our department is our location within the College of Allied Health on the OU Health Sciences campus in Oklahoma City. As one of the few departments in the country situated on a comprehensive academic health campus, we have a unique opportunity to prepare students in an environment shaped by interprofessional collaboration, clinical complexity, scientific discovery, and service to the people of Oklahoma and beyond.
Our faculty and staff are devoted educators, clinicians, scholars, and mentors. Together, we are committed to supporting student success, advancing evidence-based practice, strengthening clinical and academic programs, expanding research and innovation, and building partnerships that improve lives.
Whether you are a prospective student, current student, alumnus, patient, family member, clinical partner, colleague, or community member, we are glad you are here. I invite you to learn more about our programs, our people, and the important work taking place in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.
