Sonography is a diagnostic imaging profession that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of the human body. Sonographers acquire these images and related data to assist interpreting physicians in diagnosing disease and pathology.
This field includes specialties such as abdominal sonography, neurosonography, echocardiography, obstetrical and pelvic sonography, and vascular technology. In each area, sonographers must understand expected pathologies, apply imaging instrumentation effectively, and interpret exam results with precision.
Our program is accredited in Abdominal Extended, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Adult Cardiac, and Vascular Sonography. Students are required to demonstrate competency in all accredited specialty areas. Graduates are eligible to take the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) credentialing exams for each specialty up to 60 days prior to graduation.
