Audiology Student Jayden Sarabia Receives Three Honors

Jayden Sarabia, AuD student selected for a T-35 traineeship with NCRAR

Jayden Sarabia, a second-year student in the College of Allied Health’s Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program, has been awarded a prestigious T-35 Summer Traineeship sponsored by the US Department of Veterans Affairs National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research.  This highly competitive traineeship will provide Jayden with the opportunity to develop her research skills under the mentorship of Dr. Dawn Konrad-Martin, Associate Director of the NCRAR in the area of ototoxicity (hearing loss related to drug and chemical exposure). 

Jayden is the first student from the OUHSC AuD program to be selected for at T-35 traineeship.  With this recognition, Jayden adds to an extraordinary portfolio of awards, honors, and firsts, including service as President of the College of Allied Health Student Association, President of the OUHSC Student Government Association, and United Way of Central Oklahoma Hearing Aid Bank student coordinator.


Ms. Jayden Sarabia awardee of the Midwest Association of Allied Health Deans Legacy Scholarship

The Legacy Scholarship program was established to honor the legacies of current and former deans and directors of the Midwest Association of Allied Health Deans of Academic Health Centers.  The 
scholarship is awarded to students who possess professional and interpersonal qualities that indicate that they are likely to establish their own legacies of excellence in service, teaching, and/or research in the allied health professions. Ms. Jayden Sarabia (2nd year AuD student) was our College nominee for the prestigious scholarship program this year, and we are proud to announce that she has been awarded one of the scholarships!

2021 Recipient of the Brett and Mindy Lee Endowed Scholarship: Jayden Sarabia

The Brett and Mindy Lee Endowed Scholarship was generously funded by Brett and Mindy to provide scholarships to students in the College of Allied Health.  Brett and Mindy Lee, both from McAlester, Oklahoma, are University of Oklahoma alumni who have a passion for the healing professions and helping others, and now wish to give back to the University that has made such a difference in their lives. Brett Lee, PhD, DPT, MS is a 1998 physical therapy alumnus and is currently President of Texas Health Hospital Frisco. Mrs. Mindy Lee is a 2013 liberal studies alumna who has helped countless people through her clinical work in the dental field and tireless community volunteering efforts.

Congratulations to the 2021 recipient of the Brett and Mindy Lee Endowed Scholarship, Jayden Sarabia.
