Medical Dosimetry
A Treatment Planning System is needed in order for our students to gain the knowledge and experience before entering the work force. Hands-on experience prepares students to embark upon their professional careers.
QA equipment enables students to have access to equipment for laboratory practice and experiments.
Nuclear Medicine
A Computed Tomography Simulator is becoming an integral tool throughout imaging departments, expanding outside the realm of diagnostic radiography and into Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Therapy as well. A CT simulator will allow students the opportunity to interact with a CT machine prior to interactions in the clinical environment to better prepare them for that time when they will use the machine in practice. With the advancements and utilization of computed tomography in nuclear medicine, a CT simulator would allow greater hands-on education in the didactic and laboratory curriculum. Students will be more knowledgeable and prepared for SPECT/CT and PET/ CT.
The Jan Winn Laboratory would honor the Presbyterian Health Foundation Presidential Professor. She is an inspiration to all of us in the nuclear medicine program and profession. The program would like to raise money in her honor to name a laboratory or office in her name.

Hands-on experience prepares students to embark upon their professional careers. We would like to honor Dr. Carole A. Sullivan, who was the first program director for the Radiation Therapy Program, by naming the radiation therapy lab after her.
Professor Don Nichols is a beloved former faculty member, he taught many core courses in the department and was a radiography faculty member for many years. The department would like to honor Professor Nichols by naming a laboratory after him.

Digital Radiography X-Ray Machines have taken over Radiology departments. We need the tools to teach this ever changing aspect of our profession. With our program’s expansion to Tulsa, we need a Digital Radiography x-ray machine to replace our existent single phase unit. We currently have a CR plate reader system that would be beautifully augmented by addition of a DR unit which will help us in the instruction of digital imaging.
Digital Duke Chest Phantom is another upgrade needed to better prepare our students as teaching digital imaging requires tools specific for digital applications. While we still use many of our phantoms that we have used for years, we now need this upgraded phantom which helps in instruction of density, contrast, detail, and image receptor exposure.
The first Barbara M. Curcio Lectureship was held in 2000. Other lectures bearing her name were held in 2002 and 2005. The Department hopes that alumni will continue to support and help complete the endowment of the lectureship named in Professor Curcio’s honor.
Not only does this Lectureship honor Professor Curcio’s time and impact in the Department, it also gives students the opportunity to learn from working professionals and outside experts in their field. The Department is able to provide these excellent programs and professional leadership only through the support of its alumni.
Professor Gay Bryant was the second program director in the history of the Radiography program. The department would like to preserve her memory by naming a space in the new building in her honor.
Professor Don Nichols is a beloved former faculty member, he taught many core courses in the department and was a radiography faculty member for many years. The department would like to honor Professor Nichols by naming a laboratory after him.
