Research Overview

Susan Sisson
Welcome to Research in the College of Allied Health. As the Associate Dean for Research it is my pleasure to welcome you to this page and invite you to learn about all the amazing discoveries occurring in Allied Health. I am proud of the strides faculty and students in Allied Health make towards empowering life. College of Allied Health researchers are focused on improving the lives of people through allied health science discovery.  Research in the college includes all aspects of basic, clinical, community, and translational science. Investigators work with numerous models and populations across the life span. We address many different diagnostic groups including neurology, orthopedics, cancer and diabetes and work collaboratively with investigators across campus and across the country. Students have access and opportunity to work with faculty to develop their individual research interests. Ultimately, our goal is to provide the best technology, techniques and treatment models to provide high-level, evidence-based guidelines for improving the lives of people across the lifespan.

The OU Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth (I-CCEW) accepts interns annually to take part in learning about how to move campus projects into income generators.

Last year, Kylie Trujillo, SPT-2 was selected as an intern and participated in the OKC Insight Project. The I-CCEW OKC team created a commercialization strategy for Insight, a novel software platform that allows researchers to quickly and easily build mHealth apps for their research study participants. They presented their work to a RECORD crows on Thursday, April 23, 2020. Kylie was part of a multidisciplinary team that included Ariana Bruner, Nicole Giordano, Isbah Maududi and their team leader Souwelimatou Amadour Amani.  Congratulations to Kylie and her team for a poised presentation, creative and lucrative ideas!
