Mission & Overview

Develop a comprehensive method to assess hearing rehabilitation which include cognitive and hearing tools. Student training in consuming and conducting high quality research.

Our work at Laboratory of Auditory Cognition and Hearing Sciences aims to develop and validate amplification (hearing aid and cochlear implant) outcome measures. The lab focuses on using cognitive tools in the assessment of amplification outcomes. The primary outcome measures we work with are listening effort measures.

Research projects

  • Systematic review of effect of changing speech understanding in noise difficulty on listening effort measures
  • Systematic review: Analyzing the effect of cognitive abilities on listening effort measure
  • Development of a clinical tool to quantify listening effort in persons with hearing impairment
  • Assessing the validity of hearing aid benefit and satisfaction questionnaires using International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health
