ONLINE MA IN NUTRITIONAL SCIENCES

As chronic illnesses related to our diet rise, nutrition professionals are needed to help shape the way society views nutrition—the online Master of Arts in Nutritional Sciences from the O.U. College of Allied Health will deepen students' nutritional knowledge with advanced education, training, and research. The program allows registered dietitians to remain competitive, as the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) will require master's degrees for all new Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) in 2024.  The online M.A. program is not a pathway to becoming a RDN.

Program Benefits

  • Career Advancement Opportunities– The job market for dietitians and nutritionists is expected to expand by 15 percent by 2026, creating nearly 10,000 new positions. This program will help students advance into leadership roles beyond the hospital environment to schools, health departments, food companies, research labs, pharmaceutical companies, and more.
  • Specialized Nutritional Expertise – The Program curriculum has built-in coursework that will prepare students for the CDR certification exams. Some certification possibilities include the Certified Diabetes Educator, Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, Gerontological Nutrition, Pediatric Nutrition, Oncology Nutrition, and the Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management.
  • Accelerated, Fully Online Program – The program is a 34-credit-hour graduate degree and can be completed in as little as 16 months while students maintain full-time employment. The flexible online courses allow students to complete assignments at their convenience.
  • Incredible Student Experience – As students progress through the M.A. in Nutritional Sciences program with the same cohort, enabling students to collaborate and form connections with their classmates. OUHSC’s renowned faculty guides students through the program master’s with an emphasis on cutting-edge research findings, clinical services, and community engagement.
  • Access to the Global Sooner Network – The College of Allied Health has educated thousands of clinicians, educators, research scientists, and administrators in the nation’s health care delivery and educational systems. Becoming a Sooner means students can connect with some of the most sought-after graduates in the health community.
