2022 Oklahoma Statewide Autism Conference
Published: Monday, September 12, 2022
The Oklahoma Autism Network is proud to be hosting the two, half-day Annual Oklahoma Autism Conference this year on October 20-21st. The theme focuses on the intentional decisions necessary to help ensure successful transitions into adult life for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Considering the events, activities, and processes associated with key changes between environments throughout the lifespan of an individual, the topic is important for individuals with autism as well as the families, educators, and professionals who support them.
The quote by Iva Ursano, “You are the artist of your own life, don’t hand the paintbrush to anyone else” is the title of this year’s conference. Everyone is a masterpiece that is a compilation of brushstrokes of the individual’s heart and mind, influenced by family, friends, caregivers, teachers, and a host of others that help shape who we become. With careful planning, time, and perseverance, each unique masterpiece will come to fruition across the lifespan.
The Oklahoma Statewide Autism Conference has been hosted by the Oklahoma Autism Network since 2009. This year’s virtual conference continues to be an important step in implementing the vision outlined in the Individuals with Autism and Their Families, Oklahoma Plan. The Oklahoma Plan was developed to ensure that Oklahoma has a system of support for individuals with ASD, their families, schools, and professionals working with people with ASD.
Conference registration is now open. Please check the website for more details. www.okautism.org
