Transfer Equivalencies / Transcript Evaluation

Thank you for your interest in the College of Allied Health programs at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center!

All prospective students are required to complete a self-evaluation of their transcripts. Most accredited colleges and universities in the United States of America are listed in the Transfer Equivalencies Database. Utilize the following instructions to search for equivalent courses.

First, open our website in a browser such as FireFox or Google Chrome, and go to the academic program page that has our prerequisites listed along with a fillable prerequisite worksheet. Keep that page open (or print the worksheet) to refer to the ‘OU Course Number’, ‘Course Title’, and ‘Credit Hours’ required while you complete the evaluation. Then, follow these instructions:

Non-University of Oklahoma Courses

  1. Open the Transfer Equivalencies Database.
  2. Utilize the following search method:
    1. ‘Search by Other Institution Course’.
    2. Select the ‘State’ and the ‘Transfer Institution’; and
      Step 2
    3. Click ‘View Results by Other Institution Course’.
  3. Verify that the course you are considering taking or have already taken is equivalent to the required ‘OU Course Number’, ‘Course Title’, and ‘Credit Hours’ from our academic program pages list of prerequisites. If the course you are looking at meets these requirements, it is an acceptable substitution.

Non-University of Oklahoma
World Culture/Non-Western Culture, Artistic Forms, Western Culture, and Upper Division General Education Courses

Applicants required to take an Upper Division General Education prerequisite need to take a 3000-4000 level course (upper level/division) that is in the category of Western Culture, World Culture/Non-Western Culture, or Artistic Forms on the Transfer Equivalency Database.

For example, if you take an approved Western Culture Upper Level prerequisite, it will count for your Upper Division General Education prerequisite and your Western Culture prerequisite with that one class. You can do that with the western culture, world culture/non-western culture, or artistic forms prerequisite. Only one of those three prerequisites need to be an upper level course.

Note that upper level/division course numbers vary with non-Oklahoma institutions, so check with the institution you are attending to see what course numbers are considered upper level/division at that institution.

Once you have completed a self-evaluation of your transcripts, please follow these instructions if you have specific questions:

  • fill out the prerequisite worksheet for the program you are interested in located on the prerequisite tab for the academic program; and
  • email the completed prerequisite worksheet plus a copy of each transcript (note that we cannot evaluate transfer work on a college’s transcript, so you must send us a copy of each transcript) to transcriptevaluation@ouhsc.edu.

An advisor will review your documents and complete a thorough transcript evaluation and respond to your email with information to assist in your preparation for application to the College of Allied Health.
